The ABDE™ certification needs to be mandatorily renewed every three years to continue the qualification and keep the ABDE™ credential current. ABDE™ certification can also be upgraded to SBDE™ in accordance to the SBDE™ candidacy norms applicable at the time of upgrade. DASCA sends reminder emails for renewal or upgrade and you can log into myDASCA dashboard and register for ABDE™ renewal or for upgrade to SBDE™.
Please note that no additional training or assessment is mandated for renewal or upgrade of ABDE™. Certificants require to submit on their myDASCA dashboard, a declaration of their professional development and learning efforts every three years to maintain their ABDE™ credential. In certain cases, certificants may also be asked to submit documentary proofs to support the declaration they make at the time of renewal or upgrade.
The decision on ABDE™ renewal is usually communicated within 3-5 business days. The updated ABDE™ digital badge is issued within 2-3 business days of approval of renewal and the new ABDE™ credential certificate is shipped within 3 to 4 weeks.

ABDE™ certificants meeting SBDE™ candidacy norms can upgrade to SBDE™ any time 12 months after the date of award of their ABDE™ credential. Many ABDE™ certificants also prefer upgrading* to SBDE™ instead of merely going for an ABDE™ renewal when the 3-year validity of their ABDE™ credential is expiring. Though upgrading to SBDE™ does not require passing any exam, you are expected to declare your demonstrated commitment and efforts toward continuously enhancing and enriching your professional skills, knowledge and competence. DASCA sends reminder emails to eligible ABDE™ certificants for upgrading from ABDE™ to SBDE™, or you can log into myDASCA dashboard and register for ABDE™ upgrade to SBDE™ after verifying your candidacy.
*Please note that after upgrade to SBDE™, your ABDE™ credential will automatically expire.
